The Carolina Hurricanes have brought Bryan Rodney back up to the NHL.

The team said on Saturday that it recalled the defenceman from its AHL affiliate in Albany.

Rodney skated in five games with the Hurricanes earlier this month. He had two assists while averaging nearly 18 minutes of ice time.

Felllow defenceman Joni Pitkanen had an undisclosed upper body injury Friday night against Atlanta. The team says he is unlikely to play Saturday night at Buffalo.
