With the return of spring-like weather, construction on the Highway 97 upgrade north of Summerland has resumed and some minor traffic delays may be encountered.
Work is now concentrating on the “rock slip” area, where some off-road work is to begin this week.
Activity is also beginning on the installation of rock fences at the northern end of the construction zone, which may cause minor delays starting as early as today.
Jacqui Lloyd, project spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, said the fence-building and rock scaling activities will require some road closures. However, a schedule of closure times has not yet been determined.
The Highway 97 project is expected to be completed by early this summer.
