The Penticton Vees acquired forward Vincent Nardone from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Flin Flon Bombers in a three-team deal that sees forward Cassidy Bowes moved to the Alberta league’s Whitecourt Wolverines.
The 2000-born Nardone, from Rosemère, Que., was in his first season of junior hockey with the Bombers last season, scoring 17 goals and adding 22 assists in 56 games. His 39 points tied for third amongst SJHL rookies.
The 5’ 10’’ winger enjoyed a 10-game point streak from Oct. 11 to Nov. 10, and a nine-game streak from Dec. 31 to Jan. 19.
Nardone comes to Penticton with a commitment to the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he will be teammates with Vees alums Taylor Ward and current Vees forward Lukas Sillinger.
The 1999-born Bowes recorded seven goals and 17 assists last season and was a member of the Vees 2017 Fred Page Cup championship team.
By moving Bowes, the Vees now have seven 20-year-olds pencilled in to attend training camp in August. However, the team will only be able to carry six 20-year-olds once the B.C. Hockey League season starts Sept. 6.
