Funding is now in place to undertake design work for the next phase of Penticton Creek revitalization.
Council on Tuesday voted to withdraw $159,000 from its capital reserve to match a $159,000 grant from the South Okanagan Conservation Fund.
The next section of river to be revitalized is upstream of the Nanaimo Avenue bridge.
City staff expects to figure out a funding strategy for the actual work in 2020 to allow for construction in 2021.
The revitalization work removes the failing concrete liner that was installed in the 1950s and makes the creek more suitable for fish.
