One of the oldest groups in Penticton is seeking financial support to help revitalize itself.

The Penticton Lawn Bowling Club, which was established in 1929, on Tuesday learned city council will support its bid for a $25,000 grant from the federal government.

In a letter to council, the group says it would use the money to attract new members – it’s down to 60 from a high of 118 – replace outdated equipment and spruce up its clubhouse.

The club, which leases its Brunswick Street site from the city for $1 a year, says it’s never applied for grants before.
