A city councillor’s bid to install security lighting and additional permanent washrooms in Gyro Park has been referred to 2020 budget deliberations.
Jake Kimberley suggested the measures for the downtown Penticton park to make it safer at night and to get rid of a trailer currently used to provide portable washrooms during summer.
The matter was referred for comment to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, which suggested the items be considered during the next round of budget talks. Council on Tuesday agreed with the recommendation.
Council also backed a separate recommendation to hold off on installing outdoor exercise equipment until funding from another source becomes available.
