Nearly four years after a fatal boating accident on Osoyoos Lake, the man police believe to be responsible now has dates set for a preliminary inquiry.
The six-day hearing for Ryan William Symington is set to get underway in provincial court in Penticton on April 21.
Preliminary inquiries conclude when a judge determines if the Crown’s case against an accused is strong enough to send the matter to a full trial.
Symington was 27 years old on Aug. 16, 2011, when police allege that the boat he was operating ran over and killed Marco Corbin, 18, who was riding on a tube being pulled by another boat.
Charges of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop at an accident causing bodily harm, having care of control of a vessel while impaired and obstructing justice were sworn against Symington in April 2014.
