She has visited and helped make almost every orchard, vineyard and nursery in the Okanagan safer.
She is Carol Reid, who is retiring after 10 years as AgSafe’s orchards and vineyards safety consultant for the Valley.
Reid always brought a practical approach to safety training, education and consultation in the workplace, according to AgSafe executive director Wendy Bennett.
“Carol’s knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm for improving health and safety programs throughout the province earned her the respect of those in the B.C. agriculture community,” said Bennett.
Reid’s main job was ensuring worker safety in orchards, vineyards and nurseries and safety compliance.
With the industry growing, AgSafe has hired two men to replace Reid and cover the Okanagan. They are Ron Macc, who will be based in the south of the Valley, and Ryan Duncan, formerly of WorkSafeBC, who will be based in the Central Okanagan.
