Six member from the B.C. Wildfire Service were deployed in the early hours of Wednesday to help battle one of two blazes on the Penticton Indian Reserve.
The service said a fire that flared up on Green Mountain Road grew to nine hectares in size before it was tamed by crews from the Penticton and Penticton Indian Band fire departments with assistance from their provincial counterparts.
A smaller fire on Westhills Road grew to only 0.1 hectares.
Neither the Penticton Indian Band Fire Department nor the RCMP responded to requests for comment.
