B.C. Southern Interior MP Alex Atamanenko will present Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals to six South Okanagan-Similkameen residents next week.
A ceremony will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Oliver branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Medal recipients include Brian Lobb, Solana Allison, Kim Schur, Beryl Wallace, Charles Finch and James Ouellette.
The ceremony will be hosted by Oliver Mayor Ron Hovanes and regional district area directors.
The Diamond Jubilee Medal was created to celebrate the Queen's accession to the throne 60 years ago. The medal recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in their community, their organization, and whose contributions have made Canada the country it is today.
