Kelowna mayor supports ballet

KELOWNA Ñ In an impassioned speech Monday, Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray urged Central Okanagan residents to buy tickets for Kelowna Ballet's final performance on March 15 on the off-chance it could save the company.

Tuneagers performing soon

The Penticton Tune Agers will be performing with the theme titled, "Look to the Rainbow" for its spring concert at the Cleland Theatre on Sunday, March 24. The show features the Tune Agers' choir and orchestra and starts at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Penticton and Wine Country Visitors Centre.Ê

Subsequent to my letter of Jan. 2 in whichÊI questioned the use of gas tax rebates for projects such as the Okanagan Beach walkway as an earlier article by editor James Miller indicated that the rebates were for environmentally orientated projects, local MP Dan Albas kindly dropped off material on the rebates. I found it quite refreshing thatÊthis was done on Dan's own time on a weekend and he also took some time to discuss the rules with me.

Wow, our province's Legislative Assembly again starts to work on Feb. 13. The last time our Legislative Assembly sat was on May 31, 2012. Fundamental to our Parliamentary process is an active Legislative Assembly where the elected government answers to our elected representatives.
