Allan Gee, an announcer at EZ Rock, won the celebrity rib sauce competition at the Penticton Rotary Ribfest. Here is his winning recipe:


2 tablespoons butter

1 red onion

1 clove garlic crushed

6 tomatoes

1/4 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

4 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons maple syrup


Melt butter in saucepan, stir in onion and garlic for 5 minutes on medium heat. Add tomatoes and let simmer for 15 minutes. Then add all the other ingredients and simmer for 55 minutes. Afterwards, pour in blender and puree until smooth.
