Wine & Dine

Model Zoe Flaman gets in the retro spirit during a photo shoot for the upcoming Celebration of the 60s and 70s at Ruby Blues Winery in Penticton.

Ruby Blues owner Prudence Mahrer loves the 60s and 70s so, appropriately enough, the theme of this year's annual fundraiser is retro.

A Celebration of the 60s and 70s will be held at the Penticton winery on Saturday, June 1. The ticketed event includes a fashion show, presented by Vintage & Vogue, a live auction, wine and beer tastings, and the winery's famous sausages, which are cooked in wine. A small number of tickets at $30 each are still available.

All proceeds will be donated to a Penticton family in need.

For those unable to attend the fundraiser, the winery will be open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. for a trip down memory lane with vintage furniture, antiques, clothing, music and pop-up shops.

"We have been doing a fundraiser for many years for Cystic Fibrosis and we continue to support the cause," Mahrer said. "There's a local family that needs help and we all loved the 60s and 70s, so it seems like a natural. There will be a lot of neat things at the pop-up shops and it will be a trip down memory lane for a lot of people."

Ruby Blues is an award-winning winery located at 917 Naramata Road in Penticton. For additional details on the fundraiser, phone 250-276-5311.
