A national park reserve in the South Okanagan-Similkameen is currently being explored through an online public consultation process.
The South Okanagan Similkameen National Park Network launched a new short video Friday to explain some of the social, environmental and economic benefits of a national park reserve in the region. The video includes interviews with local business people, scientists and community leaders. It also features images of landscapes and endangered species found in the area of the proposed reserve
The video is viewable on the network’s yesnationalpark.com website and on its social media platforms.
Feb. 28 is the final day for the public to comment on the Parks Canada public consultation.
“Our members wanted to create a video reminder, for those who have not been to the LetsTalkSouth-OkanaganSimilkameen.ca website. This is a significant land-use decision for our region. It is important that we all be a part of this discussion,” SOSNPN co-ordinator Doreen Olson said in a statement.
