Ashley Chwachka of Penticton is a contestant in The New Face of Bootlegger campaign. She currently sits 13th of 60 models in Canada hoping to land a spot in the top 10.
Ashley Chwachka once was told she was too short to be a model. After abandoning her dream of a modelling career, she's hoping to kick-start it again by competing in The New Face of Bootlegger contest.
Chwachka, 28, resides in Penticton with her husband and three-year-old daughter, Mackenzie. She's mostly a stay-at-home mother, but spends a few hours per week working at City Centre Fitness and as an Avon sales representative.
Wanting to be a positive role model for her daughter, she works out regularly and attempts to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Much of her exercise involves zumba training, and she's about to share her passion for the activity by becoming an instructor.
Her modelling career has been limited to twice appearing in fashion shows in Abbotsford and at Cherry Lane mall. As well, her photograph was used for a hair salon.
"It's always been a lifetime dream of mine to model, and I try and keep in good shape. For me, a big inspiration is my daughter. I want her to know that it's important to try your hardest and to go after your dreams," she said.
Sixty women from across Canada are entered in The New Face of Bootlegger contest, and fan voting will determine the 10 finalists. At present, Chwachka is in 13th spot, and friends and family are encouraging Penticton and area residents to vote for her online to help her land in the top 10.
The winner of the Bootlegger
contest receives a national modelling campaign.
Voting takes place until Feb. 10. Visitors to the Facebook page must first "like" the page and may vote once daily per electronic device through Sunday.
"It's been a lot of fun. Danna (Carrier) from Bootlegger picked out the style for me, and we did the photo shoot with Thomas Born at the mall and a lot of people stopped and watched. I appreciate all of the support I've received already from the people of Penticton."

Go for it Ashley. Having a dream is easy, making it come true is harder.
