Penny Callies
In recognition of her 100th birthday Penny Callies of Penticton was crowned "Queen For the Day."
Callies was honoured by staff and friends at the Good Samaritan Village By The Station recently.
On hand for the occasion were Callies' family and friends. She was particularly exited to have her son and grandchildren, who all travelled long distances, there to join her.
The band, The Misfits, entertained the 80 guests while the village volunteer team served up refreshments.
Callies was born Jan. 27, 1913 near Wetaskawin, Alta., and has been an Okanagan resident for many years.
She has a love for art and enjoys painting and has enjoyed careers as a hairdresser, salon owner and real estate saleswoman.
With her quick wit and great sense of humour Callies remains an active and much-loved resident at the village.
