Catherine Kennedy with Milo |
Catherine Kennedy, wife of Penticton Herald publisher Ed Kennedy, shares a moment with long-haired dachshund Milo, age 5, during the 15th Annual Royal LePage West Realty Santa Claus Parade, Saturday, presented by the Downtown Penticton Association. Thousands of spectators lined Main Street and Front Street to catch a glimpse of the 75-minute parade which featured over 75 entries including The Penticton Herald. Herald managers and their children, nieces and nephews - and in this case dog - participated in the parade. Milo is owned by Herald editor James Miller.
"More people recognized Milo than they did me," joked Miller, noting that his dog spends weekday mornings and afternoons at The Dragon's Den on Front Street.
"It's his part-time job."
The parade itself was fantastic. Prior to the event a light-up was held at Nanaimo Square where Mayor Dan Ashton did the honours at 4 p.m. For two hours prior there were pre-parade festivities for families and children.
