Be An Angel
A knock on the front door of The Herald office, early Thursday morning, was music to our ears.
The office was closed but circulation representative Debbie Kreko heard the knock.
"May we make a donation to the Be An Angel campaign," she was asked before being handed what was the largest single donation in the six-year history of the campaign.
Peters Bros. Construction Ltd. in Penticton donated $5,000 to The Herald's holiday project which helps needy families from the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs and Valley First's Feed the Valley program.
In addition to the highest single donation in campaign history, it was the biggest day since being launched in 2008 with a daily total of $6,275 thanks to several other sizable donations by businesses and individuals including $500 from the Days Inn and Conference Centre and $300 from Penticton Brake and Wheel Ltd.
Now 12 days into the campaign, Be An Angel has raised $18,740 and is well on the way to our 31-day goal of $30,000 which would also break a record.
To make a donation, visit www.pentictonherald.ca or drop by The Herald's office at 101-186 Nanaimo Ave. W. during regular business hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on weekdays.
No donation is too large or too small and The Herald does not keep any kind of administrative fee. Those who donate will have their name published twice in The Herald or may remain anonymous.
