A cannabis store proposed for Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna has passed a major hurdle.
The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary recently gave its approval to Monashee Mountain Cannabis to open a retail store in the ski resort’s village centre.
A public hearing was held in March.
“Many comments received were not directly related to the application and outside of what the RDKB was able or mandated to consider in its review in the LCRB referral process,” the regional district said in a meeting summary.
“The application is compliant with RDKB bylaws and meets location criteria including visibility, parking, hours of operation and distance from more public or populated areas so received board support.”
The application was referred to the regional district by the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch, which also must give its approval. It's unknown, at this time, how long that will take.
Big White is the largest ski resort in the Okanagan Valley, based on volume.
